Parade on the 4th

On the morning of the 4th of July, our family headed out to the East Sac Parade. It takes place down two beautiful streets in the 'Fab Fourties' section of East Sac, which is famous for beautiful, large, charming houses.

Michael and Bennett wore matching shirts that my parents sent us!

It was so perfect outside.

The 'official' part of the parade was pretty short. One police car, one fire engine, a few military vehicles. And then it was just...people. A whole bunch of people on bikes and wagons and on foot.

And all the houses along the streets were decorated and set up to allow people to enjoy the festivities.

Eventually, after watching for a while, we joined in and became part of the parade ourselves. We bumped into some friends, who offered us beers for the walk.

It was the image of a perfect, small-town celebration. I could definitely see this becoming a family tradition.
